Are You Struggling With Your Parent's Loss of Appetite?
I became very overwhelmed with mom's loss of appetite and felt like I was doing something wrong. Trying to find something that your parent will eat during their elder years can be an ongoing struggle.
With loss of appetite, nutrition is even more important, check out this link for good health.
Mom has always loved to eat, so I would just cook like I normally did in the past, then slowly mom started picking, eventually stopped eating and just wasn't hungry. My mom didn't like Ensure or any similiar drink and didn't want to spend the money for it. I finally found out that she no longer liked what she did in the past and I couldn't figure this one out, until I learned that the elderly end up not hungry a lot. This made it very difficult for me because she fussed over everything I fixed and would not eat much. BUT....I did get a handle on the situation and I no longer make a big fuss when she doesn't eat now. I'm not near as frustrated with the situation as I was before. Would you like to share an idea of yours so we can all help each other. If you have a recipe or recipes to share, please go to the invitation below. All other suggestions would be welcomed also. You will be building your own webpage. A little exciting, huh? I know many caregivers would welcome suggestions to help them find something new that might help their parent eat more.. Thank you!
Do you want to share a great recipe with us?
